Memogate: Cheif Justice Pakistan proposes formation of judicial probe

Supreme Court (SC) proposed to constitute a judicial commission to probe into the scandal while hearing the Memogate case on Thursday.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heading a nine-member bench, said: “We are ready to constitute a judicial body to investigate the case because all parties have agreed that it’s needed.”

Muslim League (N) chief Nawaz Sharif's counsel Rasheed A. Razvi, Husain Haqqani's counsel Asma Jehangir and Attorney General Moulvi Anwarul Haq argued before the larger bench of the apex court.

The chief justice during the hearing observed that no statements filed with the court has denied the statements of Mansoor Ijaz or the Army Chief.
